Admit one person for our annual Christmas musical presentation!

Amahl and the Night Visitors is an operetta in one act by Gian Carlo Menotti, with an original English libretto by the composer. It was commissioned by NBC and first performed by the NBC Opera Theatre on December 24, 1951, in New York City at NBC Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, where it was broadcast live on television from that venue as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame. It was the first opera specifically composed for television in the United States. It ran as a national favorite Christmas past time for two decades, until it was cancelled.

One night in Judea, late under a crystal star, a crippled shepherd boy and his mother experience a transformation while being visited by three strangers, kings from another land, on their way to visit a child who has just been born.

This year, Worldstage Theatre is offering a world premier (for us) of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl & the Night Visitors, a beautiful composition about a young crippled boy who experiences a transformation during the course of a visit from three mysterious strangers from the east, late one night under a crystal star.
